A dog named Powder was dumped in the middle of the Florida Everglades by his heartless owners. The dog had no idea how to fend for himself in the deserted wetland and full of dangerous animals like crocodiles and snakes. He went hungry for days and the harsh environment caused him to develop several infections. The poor dog realized that no one was ever going to find him, so he found a lone spot and waited to ᴅɪᴇ.
One cold February day, Powder was found by a couple. The couple spent hours calling every organization they could think of. But eventually the police arrived. The puppy was curled up on a ball and shutting down when the Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived to help him. They realized that Powder was extremely weak, unable to even stand. The deputies gave him food and water and the pup slowly responded to their kindness.
After stabilizing, the officers loaded Powder in the car and contacted Dezzy Animal Rescue for help. Through medical examination, the dog is not expected to live long in the swamp if no one finds out. The bad thing with Powder was that not only did it get an internal infection, but it also developed a rash and both eyes were swollen from entropion. This shows that this poor animal has endured pain for quite a long time.
He needed eye sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ after his infection subsided. Cared for day and night, this is probably a long way for Powder. However, he is now said to be safe in the arms of those who have much love. Even so, it’s certain that Powder will still be haunted by what he’s been through. It was a horrifying experience on him. We really hope Powder will recover soon and find a good family for him, a family that loves him and never abandons him.
