Tiger Cub Rᴇᴊᴇᴄᴛᴇᴅ By Its Mother Finds A Best Friend In A Puppy

Dogs are man’s best friend, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t make friends with species other than us and their own. People once thought that a dog and a housecat cannot get along with each other, but it has been so long since this was ᴅɪsᴘʀᴏᴠᴇɴ.

Dogs are highly social animals and there is plenty of proof that they can befriend other animals such as ducks, hedgehogs, and even tigers! Here we are talking about a Bengal tiger cub named Hunter, and a German Pointer puppy Chelsea. In addition to all the differences, they are the closest friends.

Chelsea is only three weeks older than Hunter and both are under the care of the Wɪʟᴅʟɪꜰᴇ Sanctuary in Pretoria, Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Aꜰʀɪᴄᴀ. Hunter was born at the Farm Inn Wɪʟᴅʟɪꜰᴇ but sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇᴅ ꜰʀᴏᴍ his mother because after his ʙɪʀᴛʜ she showed ᴀɢɢʀᴇssɪᴠᴇ signs towards him. They knew they could raise the tiger cub, but with no brothers and sisters, he’d still be missing some important life lessons. That’s when Hunter met Chelsea the German Pointer Puppy.

Anthea, Chelsea’s owner is one of the volunteers at the sanctuary, so she often takes Chelsea for walks to see the animals. The two animals became inseparable as soon as they were introduced. Anthea says: “In the mornings when I take Chelsea out, she will run to his cage and greet him. There is a lot of wrestling involved, Chelsea ᴘᴜsʜᴇs him over and then he jumps on her.”

This unlikely duo spend a lot of their time playing together under the caretaker’s supervision. Sadly though, according to Anthea, this bond could end in a few months when Hunter reaches the age of six-months where it will be ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀᴏᴜs for Chelsea if they continue playing.
